“we can speculate on the relay of our common activity, make a circle round our errant roots. Dancing is what we make of falling. Music is what we make of music's absence, the real presence making music underneath. I'm exhausted so my soul is rested.”
― Fred Moten, The Little Edges
"Soul music is a medium of this interiority on the skin, its regret the lament for broken hapticality, its self-regulatory powers the invitation to build sentimentality together again, feeling each other again, how we party. This is our hapticality, our love. This is love for the shipped, love as the shipped".
“What’s Going On?” is study. Now, when Marvin Gaye starts singing, that’s study too. It’s not study that emerges out of the absence of study. It’s an extension of study".
- Fred Moten & Stefano Harney, The Undercommons
DJ Scholarship: (From Lynnée's website)   "Lynnée Denise was shaped as a DJ by her parent’s record collection. She’s an artist, scholar, and writer whose work reflects on underground cultural movements, the 1980s, migration studies, theories of escape, and electronic music of the African Diaspora. Lynnée Denise coined the phrase ‘DJ Scholarship’ to re-position the role of the DJ from a party purveyor to an archivist, cultural custodian and information specialist of music with critical value. Through interactive workshops, lectures and presentations at universities, conferences and performance venues, Lynnée Denise harnesses music as a medium for vital public dialogue on how to transform the way that music of the Black Atlantic is understood in its social context and beyond entertainment".
Lynnée Denise's practice is multiple, crafting playlists as essays such as this one on: bell hooks.

Every man has a place, in his heart there's a space,
And the world can't erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, right away
And we will live together, until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever, as one
Every thought is a dream, rushing by in a stream,
Bringing life to our kingdom of doing
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, miles away
Our voices will ring together until the twelfth of never,
We all, will live forever, as one
Come see victory, in the land called fantasy
Loving life, a new decree,
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty
Our minds will explore together, old worlds, we conquer, forever
We then, will expand love together, as one
Come to see, victory in a land called fantasy,
Loving life, for you and me, to behold, to your soul is ecstasy
You will find, other kind, that has been in search for you,
Many lives has brought you to
Recognize it's your life, now in review
And as you stay for the play, fantasy, has in store for you,
A glowing light will see you through
It's your day, shining day, all your dreams come true
As you glide, in your stride with the wind, as you fly away
Give a smile, from your lips, and say
I am free, yes I'm free, now I'm on my way

Find Your Way : Dionna Farris
Never knowing in the dark, in the light
When the world will change
Eliminating all the fear, all the sadness
In the falling rain
Touch my heart, touch my soul
Lead me into the light of the day
Time slips ever fast, instantly becoming the past
You've gotta find your way before it's too late
Endless sky, yours and mine
For to see all our dreams to come
With all you see, focus your energies on what is to be done
Live your life, love yourself
Know that everything has just begun
Time slips ever fast, instantly becoming past
