We are reading Ordinary Notes by Christina Sharpe and posting our responses to each note as a practice of reading together then sharing our responses here as a record of the work that this text prompts and inspires.
We are each inspired by the work of Christina Sharpe as we embark on this particular wake practice. We begin with Gail, Foluke and Robert whilst imagining that others will join in on the collective chorus.

Foluke:

Gail:

Robert: think of James Baldwin:
“The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the moment we break faith with one another, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out.”
